The Lantern Festival, also known as the Shangyuan Festival, is the first important festival after the Spring Festival. The first month is the first month of the lunar calendar. The ancients called the night a "宵", so the first month of the first month of the year is called the Lantern Festival.
The Lantern Festival began in the Qin Dynasty, and the Emperor of the Han Dynasty ordered the fifteenth day of the first month to be the Lantern Festival. At the time of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Sima Qian created the “Taiwan Calendar” and identified the Lantern Festival as a major festival.
In June 2008, the Lantern Festival was selected for the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
